Deep Conversations

Hi everyone,

I have been having some deep conversations lately. I think that with Christmas coming and learning new things at Bible study my little brain is ripe for asking questions and thinking deep thoughts.

Setting the Scene:
Mommy and I had just finished eating dinner (Daddy worked late) where we also read our first day of the Jesse Advent Tree Devotions. I was sitting in Mommy’s lap on the kitchen floor having just read my book “Jesus is Born”.

Me: “Is heaven scary?”

Mommy: “No. Heaven is a good place. It’s where God lives. It’s where we’ll get to see God and worship him and we’ll see Jesus and there will be no more tears or pain or sadness. It’s definitely a good place.”

Me: “I want to go to heaven.”

Mommy: “Well, honey, the only way you can get to heaven is if you have asked Jesus into your heart and have asked him to forgive you of your sins. “

Me: “I want to go to heaven.”

Mommy: “You have to ask Jesus into your heart and ask him to forgive you of the bad things you have done. Mommy has asked Jesus into her heart, and Daddy, and Grandpa and Nana and Grandma and lots of other people we know. We asked Jesus into our hearts and then we asked him to forgive us of the bad things that we’ve done. Would you like to ask Jesus into your heart?”

Me: “Yes, I want to ask Jesus into my heart.”

Mommy: “Okay. Why don’t you pray with me and we’ll ask Jesus to come into your heart.”

(Then we prayed a short prayer asking him into my heart and asking him to forgive me of my sins and to help me live like him.)

Me: “I want to go to heaven now.”

Mommy: “No, it’s not time for you to go to heaven. Mommy and Daddy want you to stay around a lot longer. We like having you in our family. You go to heaven when God is ready to take you to heaven.”

Me: “Is heaven far away?”

Mommy: “Yes, heaven is very far away.”

Me: “But I want to go to heaven.”

Mommy: “I know, honey, but it’s not time for you to go. You can’t go to heaven until it’s time for you to go. God will come get you when it is time for you to go to heaven.”

Me: “Will he come in a car?”

Mommy: “I don’t know, I’ve never been to heaven.”

Me: “Maybe a car or a truck.”

Until next time . . .
